AMVN Hosts Educator Forum with College Professors
Educators around the world are facing many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the greatest of which is the shift to virtual classrooms.
After hosting several educational forums with college students, AMVN staff members Hasmik Torosyan and Kristina Terian came up with the idea of hosting an education forum with college professors. Professors around the world were invited to participate in the forum which took place on July 15th.
The educators who participated in the forum included Hasmik Babayan (Armenia), Bart Dijkema (Holland), Sean Erikson (Australia), Liza Kobsar (Russia), Michael Quirk (England), Sara Terian (USA), and Omid Zarif (Iran).
The forum topics were:
a) Challenges of teaching in my country
b) Ways that educators can improve the education in their country
The forum provided an opportunity to learn how to overcome problems and come up with possible solutions. There was an active exchange of interesting, thoughtful ideas. Professor Liza Kobsar, PhD in Pedagogy, said ”It was really interesting. I truly believe we need such events, because it helps to understand that colleagues around the world are facing the same problems, not only you.Together is much easier.”
The forums are an ongoing effort as AMVN staff work to find ways of improving educational opportunities for young students in Armenia.
